Not unexpectedly, Spyker MF1 racing has changed their colours to orange, much like the Spyker Squadron livery used in the LMES series. This will better reflect the team’s new Dutch ownership*.
The familiar Spyker Squadron colours of orange and silver appeared on the Spyker MF1 car for the first time at Silverstone during the Tuesday test.
The new livery will make the Spyker cars more distinguishable from the various other predominantly red cars on the grid – fans have especially complained that, in distant shots, it is hard to distinguish the MF1’s and the McLarens. Oddly enough McLaren is another team with a history rich in orange – a colour in which they ran for many years when the team was in its infancy.
*Orange is a traditional dutch colour, being the heraldic colour of William The Silent who became Stadholder of the Netherlands in the sixteenth century.
