Spyker to run new car on 6 February

The Dutch formula one team Spyker will test its new car for 2007 in the days after it is officially launched at Silverstone on 5 February.

After the wraps are pulled off the orange-liveried racer, whose official designation is not yet known, it is scheduled to run alone at the Northamptonshire circuit on 6-7 February, the team confirmed this week.

It will be Spyker’s first track action since the Brazilian grand prix last October, after every other team sampled the proposed ‘control’ Bridgestones for 2007 on Spanish test circuits.

The new car, to be raced this year by Christijan Albers and German rookie Adrian Sutil, will not be fired up at the official launch, which takes place at the Spyker factory located across the road from the British GP venue.

Spyker will also not travel to Bahrain for the pre-season February tests, instead opting to clock up three separate three-day sessions at Barcelona and Valencia before March’s season opener in Australia .
