Ferrari will hopefully unveil their new 2007 Formula 1 challenger during their 2007 launch on Sunday January 14 at Marranello. Industry speculation is that the completed car may not be displayed to the gathering but keep away from prying eyes in a bid to prevent other competitors from copying any new ideas that may be evident. So it may be that the event is just a meet and greet showing off the new look team and drivers.
The 2007 Ferrari is due to undergo shake down testing in the hands of Ferrari’s 2006 stand out Brazilian Felipe Massa at the teams private test track Fiorano the day after. Surprisingly star recruit Kimi Raikkonen is not expected to test until later in the month which is the complete opposite to rival McLarens efforts in ensuring that World Champion Fernando Alonso could test for his new team as soon as possible. With Raikkonen regularly coming under fire in the past for lack of motivation its seems another sign that he is happy to let others do the work. One can not imagine many drivers of his calibre not itching to get behind the wheel of the car that he hopes will take him to his first World Championship…
