Bourdais begins test at Jerez

Champ Car’s triple champion Sebastien Bourdais started testing for the Toro Rosso team at Jerez on Wednesday morning.

The 27-year-old Frenchman, wearing his familiar blue and yellow helmet, black overalls and red-rimmed eye-glasses, entered the track on a clear and crisp day in southern Spain, according to sources at the Circuito Permanente de Jerez.

Bourdais nearly switched to Arrows for the 2003 season, but Tom Walkinshaw’s Leafield based team folded. He is also thought to have held talks with Williams in the past.

He was linked to BMW-Sauber’s test seat at the end of last year, but is believed to have baulked at the German squad’s reluctance to guarantee him a racing ride.
