Spyker to race two new cars in 2007 – Sutil

German rookie Adrian Sutil has confirmed speculation that Spyker will introduce a major mid-year upgrade for its formula one car in 2007.

It is reported that the late arrival of Mike Gascoyne convinced the Silverstone based team to let the technical chief focus on developing the new machine, rather than trying to implement changes for the first few grands prix of the season.

The news might also explain why the Dutch squad Spyker, with an improved budget for 2007, seems content to sit out the November-December and January winter tests, as it makes the switch from Toyota to Ferrari power.

Germany’s 24-year-old Sutil told f1total.com: “We will have a completely new car, and then during the course of the season we will introduce another new car.”

The F1 rookie added that the plan is to race the second new car for 2007 around the time of the Turkish grand prix in late August.
