Pastor Maldonado received most penalties during 2012 Formula 1 season. Venezuelan got 14 penalties in 20 grand prix weekends. Among those who drove clear in whole season was Fernando Alonso.
Williams driver was one of more controversial drivers this season thanks to many accidents in which he was involved. Thanks to them and mistakes in pit lane Maldonado received 14 penalties of almost all kind – grid drops, added seconds, drive through and fines. In Belgium he established this year`s record with three penalties during the weekend.
On second place in this embarrassing rank are Michael Schumacher and Sergio Perez, who received 9 penalties. 8 penalties received World Champion Sebastian Vettel.
Drivers with whom stewards didn`t have problems were Timo Glock and Fernando Alonso, who didn`t received even one penalty.
This year`s most serious penalty was ban for one race for Romain Grosjean for causing an accident in Belgium.
