Red Bull aims to beat the other Red

F1 team Red Bull Racing has set an ambitious target for 2006 – beating their engine supplier Ferrari.

Both team principal Christian Horner and technical boss Mark Smith reckon it (beating the scarlet squad) can be done.

The outfit, owned by Dietrich Mateschitz, will, for the first time, be powered by Ferrari V8 engines next year.

“If they are better than us,” Horner told Autosport magazine, “then we are not doing a good enough job or Bridgestone are doing a better job than Michelin.”

Smith, meanwhile – who has effectively led the design of the new ‘RB2’ car – said the engineering group at Milton Keynes is the “strongest” he’s ever worked with, including Renault.

That group will include former McLaren designer technical director and master in the black art of aerodynamics Adrian Newey in 2006 and beyond.
