McLaren loses another top man to Red Bull

Following highly successful designer Adrian Newey’s move from McLaren to Red Bull, the rumours of another top McLaren man making the same move have been confirmed.

Peter Prodromou, McLaren’s spearhead in what has been called the “black art” of aerodynamics, will be joining Red Bull Racing, the team has confirmed according to news agency Reuters.

“It has been agreed by Red Bull Racing and Peter Prodromou that Peter would join the team as chief aerodynamicist later this year when his contract expires with McLaren-Mercedes.” said Red Bull Racing in a statement.

Prodromou’s will stay with the Silver Arrows team until his contract runs out.

This means that the rumoured “brain drain” that faces McLaren Mercedes is becoming a greater reality and in the long run this will almost certainly have an effect on their competitveness. Considering the fact that both Williams and BAR Honda (now Honda F1 Racing) have at least in part attributed their lack of 2005 form to aerodynamic problems, this particular loss may well turn out to be a big one.
