Aguri’s Montagny tests Toyota

Franck Montagny will return to the wheel of his third Super Aguri car in Shanghai, despite making his first appearance for Toyota at the Silverstone test on Tuesday.

Wearing an unbranded set of black and white overalls at the Northamptonshire venue, Frenchman Montagny, 27, completed 38 laps despite having not yet signed a Toyota test contract for 2007.

He will drive again on Wednesday after Ricardo Zonta, whom Montagny is certain to replace next year, struggled with the flu.

A Toyota spokesman confirmed: ”(Montagny) has not signed a contract yet.”

Montagny is, however, still contracted to Honda-powered Super Aguri, who intend to retain him for Friday practice duties at the last three events of the year.

It should be noted, however, that Japanese GP2 driver Hiroki Yoshimoto was observed in the Super Aguri garage at Silverstone on Tuesday.
