World champion Fernando Alonso has played down team predecessor Kimi Raikkonen’s recent criticism of McLaren.

Upon switching to Ferrari after a five year Woking tenure, Finn Raikkonen suggested that the Italian squad is a “warmer” team to work for.

Even McLaren chief Ron Dennis admitted this week that some observers perceive the silver-clad team to be “cold, not particularly user-friendly and slightly aloof”.

But referring to Raikkonen’s comments, 25-year-old Alonso said: “It is not a surprise that Kimi said that — he can’t come out and say that Ferrari is worse, can he?”
