Fernando Alonso’s manager has contradicted Spanish media reports that said the world champion married his fiancée last Saturday.
Numerous sources reported that the 25-year-old tied the knot with Spanish singer Raquel del Rosario in the Maldives, after a wedding party of fifty was secretly flown to the Indian Ocean location by private jet.
But Alonso’s representative Luis Garcia Abad was quoted by the ‘Marca’ sports daily as slamming the Spanish press’ false claims.
The couple apparently did travel to the Maldives with a group of family and friends, but ‘Marca’ said it was just a holiday.
Garcia Abad said: “It is sad that, after a year spent proudly defending his country’s colours in all the corners of the world, (Alonso) has to put up with this sort of treatment from his own people.”
