Fernando Alonso’s recent formula one successes have been both a help and a hindrance to his aspiring countrymen.
That is the claim of rookie Spaniard Adrian Valles, who with the financial backing of the Valencia test circuit has landed a test seat at Spyker in 2007.
He told the news agency EFE: “He has helped us because Spain is now interested in formula one, making it easier for us to get sponsors and to get the interest of the teams.
“But on the other hand he tends to eclipse us too.”
