Fernando Alonso will show off his McLaren formula one car in the Spanish port city of Santander before travelling to Australia next month.
According to reports, the 25-year-old reigning world champion will drive the car on the northern coast of Spain on 10 March; a week before qualifying for the first race of 2007.
Santander is the home of McLaren’s new Spanish sponsor of the same name, and the Alonso event will help the banking organisation to celebrate its 150th birthday.
It will be Alonso’s fourth such demonstration in Spain, after driving his Renault in Madrid in 2003 and last year in Seville.
For the recent launch of his new MP4-22, moreover, he drove before tens of thousands of his countrymen in Valencia.
