After promising to sell cheaper tickets to single women, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation is going to let 10,000 schoolchildren into the F1 event at Albert Park next year for free.

The number has been raised from 4000 in 2006.

“Anywhere else, this might be seen as massaging limp attendance figures, but we know our dear old AGPC better than that,” a sarcastic journalist for Melbourne’s The Age newspaper wrote.

Eligible children will reportedly complete worksheets, including – for example – a challenge for students to design a new logo and catchphrase for the race.
