Jan.12 (GMM) Bad weather on Tuesday affected the opening day of Michael Schumacher’s test in a GP2 car at Jerez.

A statement issued by the feeder series said “heavy rain and wind” hit the former grand prix circuit shortly after the 41-year-old began his running in the morning.

The conditions then worsened and the session was stopped early.

“Despite the weather not being what we all would have liked all my senses were nevertheless on full alert — this alone was worth it,” said Schumacher, who managed 52 laps.

He will conduct two more days of testing, on Wednesday and Thursday.
