Rubens Barrichello has contradicted suggestions that his Honda seat for 2008 may not be secure.

Media reports have claimed that the Brazilian, who early next season would become the most experienced F1 driver of all time, could lose the ride if Honda find a better alternative in the wake of Fernando Alonso’s potential impact on the driver market.

Barrichello, 35, penned a new Honda deal in July.

It has also been reported that Jarno Trulli’s Toyota seat could similarly be in doubt for 2008, despite the Italian also possessing a contract for next year.

Barrichello, however, is quoted by the Swiss newspaper Blick as saying: “Honda know what they have in my experience.

“And I am as fast as (Jenson) Button.”
