BMW must solve problems – Niki Lauda

The time has come for BMW to solve its lingering reliability problems.

That is the insistence of former triple world champion Niki Lauda, after the German squad suffered all winter with transmission and hydraulic glitches aboard its impressively quick 2007 contender, the F1.07.

Poland’s Robert Kubica was then the only runner to retire with a mechanical failure from the season opening Australian grand prix.

“It would be a joke if a company with a global reputation like BMW cannot get to the bottom of a specific problem,” Austrian Lauda told the Swiss newspaper Blick.

Team boss Mario Theissen claims that the problem was attended to during the recent test at Sepang.

“We’ve analysed the shift problem in Robert’s car and implemented the relevant measures,” he said.
