Ralf Schumacher has added another voice to a growing feeling that BMW are on the cusp of a sterling season in 2007.
Felipe Massa and Toro Rosso’s Gerhard Berger are already predicting winning form for the Hinwil based camp, and now 31-year-old Schumacher thinks his old team is readying to return to the podium’s top step.
The German drove for BMW-powered Williams between 2000 and 2004, before he switched to Toyota and Munich-based BMW bought the Sauber squad.
“I expect BMW to be strong — like us, they could be the surprise of the season,” Schumacher told the German newspaper ‘Bild’.
Ralf also noted McLaren’s apparently dominant form with the MP4-22, but insisted that the Mercedes-powered outfit “often” performs well in the winter.
And referring to Ferrari, which has lost Schumacher’s big brother Michael, Ralf said: “I don’t think they are doing as badly as some other people think.”
