A Ferrari spokesman has again denied unrelenting speculation that the Italian squad might, at Michael Schumacher’s request, delay its scheduled announcement about race drivers for 2007.

Schumacher and his manager Willi Weber have been quoted as pleading for more time, but spokesman Luca Colajanni on Thursday insisted that a clear statement will be made at the Italian grand prix.

”Our president, Luca di Montezemolo, will reveal the decision about drivers on the weekend of Monza,” he was quoted as saying by Sport-Informations-Dienst.

The announcement is due to be made after the race at the high-speed circuit, with the spokesman denying new rumours that a gala event on Thursday evening would set the scene.

Schumacher himself refused to broach the subject at great length whilst testing at Monza this week. ”We will discuss it at the correct time,” the seven time champion stated.

Alongside Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa are touted as in the running for race seats at the famous red team next year.
