Briatore to expand ‘Billionaire’ empire

Flavio Briatore on Thursday opened a new ‘Billionaire’ men’s fashion store in Vienna.

The Italian millionaire, who is also Renault’s team principal, plans to extend his high end clothing empire to up to 20 stores by 2009, according to the financial news agency Bloomberg.

Alongside shops in London, Moscow and Tokyo, the Vienna outlet is Briatore’s fifth, where prices for a single item of custom jewellery can rise to a mind-boggling $1 million with clients including David Beckham.

The flamboyant 56-year-old said it made good sense to create a high-priced market for men’s clothes.

“In the end, the person with the wallet is the man,” he suggested.

Briatore also has a nightclub of the same name in Sardinia, and Bloomberg said he plans to open a luxury beach resort in Kenya in the next two or three months.
