Brundle slams Honda’s Willis axe

Former grand prix driver Martin Brundle has criticised Honda’s decision to axe Geoff Willis.

The Briton, who raced for teams including McLaren and Jordan and today manages David Coulthard, doubted that demoting its technical director will help the Japan-owned squad to improve.

Brundle told The Times: ”It strikes me as throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

”When a team is struggling it is vital that they continue to believe in each other. It staggers me that Willis has turned out to be the fall guy, especially since there is a shortage of top calibre technical people.”
