A spokeswoman for Honda said on Tuesday that Jenson Button’s two cracked ribs are ‘healing well’, despite the fact that the British racer is to sit out a second week of testing.
Button, 27, is to miss the three day session beginning on Wednesday at the Circuito de Jerez, the spokeswoman confirmed, after he also skipped last week’s Barcelona test due to injuries sustained whilst karting.
The spokeswoman said she did not know if Button will be fit for the final pre-Christmas test, also at Jerez.
“At this time, Jenson will miss this week’s test in Jerez in order not to aggravate his rib injury which is healing well,” she said.
“We are taking things one week at a time, therefore I’m afraid I won’t be able to advise you about next week until next week.”
