Button rules out home win

Far from talk up a maiden win at his home race in 2006, Jenson Button doubts that even fourth place is a realistic target for the British grand prix.

The Englishman finished a distant eleventh at Monaco, and he now insists that even teammate Rubens Barrichello’s fourth does not represent the extent of the Honda struggle.

”We are not blinded by (Rubens’) fourth position,” 26-year-old Button told BBC Sport, totally ruling out challenging Renault and Ferrari at Silverstone even though the circuit is close to a race-day sellout.

While the Brackley based squad were tipped as title candidates this year, Button’s comments are a sobering blow even in the context more recent results.

His fastest race lap at Monte Carlo was a worrying two seconds slower than the leaders.

JB continued: ”We don’t expect to be fourth place from (now) on.

”We know we have a lot of work to do on the car if we are to do that.” gmmf1dailyf1news.com
