Button scolds Bernie for ‘lazy’ jibe

Jenson Button has hit back at Bernie Ecclestone after the F1 supremo accused him of not putting enough effort into his career.

Ecclestone, 75, said earlier this week that Honda’s 26-year-old Englishman was like an ‘old-time driver’ who tried to rely on talent rather than dedication.

He said: “Michael (Schumacher) will win a race and next day start testing. I’m not sure whether Jenson is prepared to do that.'”

In the Interlagos paddock, Button reacted angrily to the suggestion and accused Bernie of speaking out of turn.

“You have to look at the facts, which he hasn’t done,” Jenson told reporters, “because I’ve done more miles than anyone in testing.

“During the season I’ve done about the same miles in testing as Michael.”
