Button’s wish granted as Silv expects rain

83,000 or so countrymen may not agree, but Jenson Button is praying that Silverstone dumps rain on the British GP this week.

Having ruled out even a podium on a dry circuit, the Honda-driving local is now turning to the skies to boost his chances of acing his seventh home race.

”We need anything that will shake things up,” 26-year-old Button told the Times.

He said: ”In one way, I want it to be a great weekend for the fans … but I really hope we can produce something for them to cheer.”

As it happens, the weekend forecast for the event in Northamptonshire is looking pretty grim.

Cloud is expected to gather during a dry Friday to produce real uncertainty about showers for the remainder of the grand prix.
