As predicted earlier this week, the Canadian grand prix has now sold out.
The Montreal race’s press officer Normand Prieur confirmed on Tuesday that, despite the absence this year of Michael Schumacher and local favourite Jacques Villeneuve, the popularity of newcomer Lewis Hamilton had made an impact on ticket sales.
“We’ve been playing with that. We’re not hiding that,” he had said.
332,000 spectators attended the Canadian GP weekend in 2006, with 119,000 on race day.
Prieur now explains in a statement that the 2007 event is fully “sold out”.
“Since 5:00 pm, the ticket office is no longer taking orders,” it read.
