Colour green to feature on 2009 Force India

Jan.15 (GMM) Force India appears to have given a sneak-peak of its revised car livery for 2009 in the pages of an official team calendar

When the inaugural calendar was launched in New Delhi by billionaire team owner Vijay Mallya this week, promotional preview shots of some of the pages depicted the team’s as-yet unlaunched VJM-02 single seater in the background

Last year’s Silverstone-built VJM-01 was mainly white, gold and red, but the car in the 2009 calendar – in the background of photos including a shirtless Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil – is significantly different

For instance, the nose section is green, the colour gold is more prominent, and the sidepods are white, not red as in 2008

Moreover, both the front and rear wings are white, no longer incandescent red, which last year often led to the car being confused for McLaren’s

The new use of the colour green is undoubtedly to relate the Force India car more directly with the country’s saffron, white and green tricolour national flag

The VJM-02 will make its first official appearance at the Jerez circuit in Spain in early March
