David Coulthard says he is ‘nervous’ about Red Bull’s prospects for 2007.
Although the Milton Keynes based outfit turned its developmental attention to next year’s car quite some time ago, the Scotsman was critical of the RB2’s pace at Suzuka after qualifying a miserable 17th.
Referring to Vitantonio Liuzzi’s quicker pace in the Toro Rosso, Coulthard exclaimed to ITV: ”We’re being outqualified by last year’s car!”
His teammate next year will be Mark Webber, and renowned designer Adrian Newey is presently working on his first Red Bull racer.
But Coulthard said: ”I’m taking the longer term view as to whether we have the right people in all of the departments to confidently exploit those that we know have got a winning record.”
Newey’s RB3 will debut on the test track in January.
