David Coulthard says he is not worried about going head to head with Mark Webber at Red Bull in 2007.

Having spent the majority of his career alongside top McLaren drivers including Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen, the formula one veteran lined up against the likes of Christian Klien, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Robert Doornbos in his first two years at Red Bull.

Scotland’s Coulthard insists that the incoming Mark Webber is not a daunting prospect.

“I don’t worry about who my teammate is,” he told Eurosport MotorMagazin. “I have driven with Hakkinen and Raikkonen, who are both very fast.

“It is Red Bull’s job to determine the driving pairing. I respect my teammates and want to work with them to develop the package.”

Coulthard, meanwhile, rued the fact that departed Klien’s time with the energy drink owned squad ended with an internal spat this year.

He said of the situation that led to the young Austrian’s premature departure: “It weakened us and strengthened our rivals.”
