Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard has expressed his desire to keep racing in 2007, in extending his one-year contract with Red Bull Racing. The announcement of former McLaren employee Adrian Newey signing on as Technical Director over the summer, the news could not have please anyone more then Coulthard who raced with Newey designed cars at McLaren. “Adrian has been part of cars that have won more than a hundred Grands Prix,” Coulthard spoke to BBC Sport. “The evidence would be that if you give him the resources and support then he’ll give you a competitive package.”

As Newey joined the team after the RB2 had been designed for the 2006 season, he will have little input in modifications for the car. In 2007, the RB3 will be a fully designed Newey car, which excited Coulthard and is his drive for a race seat with Red Bull in coming years. “My motivation is to be in an Adrian Newey designed Red Bull in 2007,” added Coulthard “Within a few months we should start feeling his influence.”
