Davidson expects tough fight with ‘Taku’

Anthony Davidson has admitted that his former F3 teammate Takuma Sato might initially get the better of him at Super Aguri in 2007.

The 27-year-old and long time Honda test driver was also at the Carlin team in 2001 when Japanese Sato convincingly won the British F3 title. Since then, the pair has worked together at BAR/Honda, principally with Sato in the race seat.

“By the end of the year I hope to be pushing Taku really hard,” Briton Davidson answered in a Q&A provided by Leafield-based Super Aguri on Monday.

Sato joined the Honda-powered team at its inception last year.

Davidson said: “Hopefully we will be in a competitive environment with our car (next year). The ultimate goal has to be scoring points in your first year and I believe that this is realistic.”
