Davidson ‘no comment’ on Honda’s Earth Car

Anthony Davidson has declined to back his Honda-powered colleagues by sitting out the current debate about environmental issues.

The Japanese carmaker’s works driver Jenson Button, a close friend of countryman Davidson, told the Daily Mail newspaper that he fully supports the controversial ‘Earth Car’ despite criticism that Honda preaching about climate change is hypocritical.

“It does mean a lot to me,” he said, “because I am 27 years old and I want a family when I am older and I want them to have the world like we have got it today, or probably a couple of decades back.”

The similarly aged Davidson, though, who drives for Honda’s satellite team Super Aguri, refused to play ball in an interview with the newspaper The Independent.

“I am not an environmentalist,” he said, “I am a racing driver, so it is not really my place to comment.”
