F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone is not optimistic about the health of grand prix minnows Super Aguri.

Ahead of team co-owner Aguri Suzuki’s crucial meeting in Tokyo with Honda officials on Wednesday, Ecclestone’s comments seemed to set the scene for the apparent collapse of the Leafield based team.

“They don’t look in very good shape,” the 77-year-old is quoted as saying by Reuters.

“I want them to stay, I’ve been helping them the last week,” Ecclestone added.

At Barcelona on Sunday, Suzuki would not confirm if his team will be able to make the grid for the forthcoming Turkish grand prix in two weeks.
