Former Minardi formula one racer Zsolt Baumgartner has signed to be “official test and reserve driver” for Paul Stoddart’s team of the same name in the American Champ Car series.
The 26-year-old Hungarian contested 20 grands prix; for Minardi in 2004 and, replacing the injured regular Ralph Firman, for Jordan the year earlier.
He scored one point.
Baumgartner, to attend “the majority” of the Champ Car races, will test this week alongside Robert Doornbos at Laguna Seca, a statement issued by Stoddart’s ‘Minardi Team USA’ added.
