F1’s twelfth team for 2008, Prodrive, has appointed a ‘commercial director’.

Tony Schulp arrives from a long career with the sports publisher Haymarket, where he was chief executive, a statement issued by Banbury-based Prodrive revealed.

“This is a new role within Prodrive which will see him overseeing the company’s commercial strategy for its global $250 million motorsport and automotive technology businesses,” the statement on Monday read, adding that Schulp will also be responsible for Prodrive’s commercial activities in formula one.

“I believe he is just what Prodrive needs at this important stage in our development, when we are about to embark on perhaps our greatest venture yet,” said Prodrive chief David Richards.

Schulp will join Prodrive at the end of March.
