Ferrari will debut its car for the 2007 season at the Jerez circuit on 16 January, according to reports.
The Swiss newspaper Blick claims that the rollout of the red single seater in Spain will coincide with the debut of championship challenger Renault’s new car.
It is not, however, known when Ferrari will hold its official launch.
Meanwhile, Renault team principal Flavio Briatore this week confirmed reports that said Fernando Alonso would not secure an early release to test for the McLaren team at Jerez.
The Italian contradicted his McLaren counterparts’ suggestions that they requested Alonso, 25, be allowed to test before his contract expires on New Year’s Eve.
“They should talk to Renault and not journalists,” Briatore is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I have not thought about it, but I don’t think it’s that important for the fate of the world. I hope Fernando has a nice Christmas and a relaxing winter, because in the Spring we are going to beat him.”
