Ferrari called off Felipe Massa’s day at Paul Ricard on Thursday because he suffered an engine failure after three installation laps.

According to the team’s press release, however, the Scuderia was ‘working only at Fiorano’, where Michael Schumacher will be replaced by his jet-setting teammate on Friday.

At Paul Ricard in the south of France, meanwhile, BMW-Sauber’s Jacques Villeneuve took a turn at the top of the times after the circuit was switched from a Monaco-like layout to one called ‘1E SC’, that mirrors Montreal — which is named after Villeneuve’s fabled father.

On Thursday, Honda and Williams also continued running at twisty Vallelunga, east of Rome.gmmf1 dailyf1news.com
