Apr.2 (GMM) F1’s governing body has reconvened the stewards inquiry into an incident behind the safety car in Melbourne last Sunday
The FIA has recalled the stewards of the Albert Park event to a new hearing in Malaysia, after a “new element” of the case involving Jarno Trulli and Lewis Hamilton came to light
We reported on Wednesday that the case may be reopened due to concerns world champion Hamilton misled the stewards about whether or not he let the Toyota pass
It is believed the ‘new element’ is radio traffic between the 24-year-old Briton and the McLaren pitwall, and other empirical evidence that contradicts his statements to the stewards
“The FIA really got it wrong in that decision,” Trulli, who was demoted from third to twelfth place in the original investigation, told the New Straits Times in Malaysia
“We have all the evidence, including Hamilton’s admission, that I did not overtake him. He let me pass,” he added
The new stewards inquiry will take place on Thursday afternoon at 1pm
