The French grand prix has received a blow with the resignation of the country’s motor sport authority chief Jacques Regis.
The head of the Federation Francaise du Sport Automobile (FFSA), who has championed the annual race at Magny Cours since becoming president in 1997, cited personal reasons for quitting with immediate effect last week.
Treasurer Jean-Claude Cresp is Regis’ replacement, ahead of the election of a permanent new president later in 2007.
Magny Cours, in rural Nevers, has a contract to host formula one until 2011.
