Oct.11 (GMM) Timo Glock will miss this weekend’s Brazilian grand prix, and possibly also the 2009 season finale in Abu Dhabi, with a back injury, his Toyota team announced on Sunday.

The German sat out Friday practice in Japan last weekend with a heavy cold, and then cut his leg in a qualifying crash and had to miss the Suzuka race.

But according to Toyota, 27-year-old Glock also cracked a vertebra when he ran off the track, as medical checks in his native country subsequently revealed.

“Doctors have therefore ruled him out of this weekend’s race,” said the Cologne based team.

“We hope he can recuperate in time for Abu Dhabi, although at this stage the situation is not clear,” team president John Howett added.

Glock’s replacement for Interlagos is Toyota’s Japanese reserve driver Kamui Kobayashi.
