Oct.18 (GMM) Lewis Hamilton has admitted he is not sure if McLaren and Mercedes are set to stay together in the future.
It is expected that the German carmaker will switch its primary allegiance to Brawn as soon as the exclusive McLaren contract runs out at the end of 2010.
There are strong rumours that Mercedes wants to start its intensified Brawn partnership immediately, with an Abu Dhabi partner of the parent Daimler AG to hold a Lewis Hamilton per cent stake in the British team until a deal can be formalised.
McLaren and Mercedes have already stopped collaborating on road car projects, and reports have indicated that chairman Ron Dennis is keen to adopt a similarly independent strategy even for the F1 team’s engine.
“I can only hope they (McLaren and Mercedes) stick together, at least I have been told they will stick together — but who knows?” reigning world champion Hamilton, under long term contract to the Woking based squad, told the Mirror newspaper.
