Hamilton plays down possible title loss

Nov.1 (GMM) Lewis Hamilton in Brazil said he does not see Sunday’s championship showdown with Felipe Massa as his ‘now or never’ shot at the formula one title

“I’ve plenty of time yet. “I’m still at the early stages of my formula one career, so I’ve room. It’s not like it’s my last year,” the McLaren driver said

The 23-year-old, with a seven point advantage over Ferrari’s Massa, was speaking on Friday, after going just ninth quickest in afternoon practice at Interlagos

A similar result in the grand prix, with Massa at least in second place, would hand the championship to the Brazilian

Hamilton was coy when asked if losing a second consecutive title showdown, following his failed shot as a rookie this time last year, would be a “disaster”

“When you lose a game of tennis it’s a frigging disaster,” he told reporters

“It’s just another competition,” Hamilton insisted, when it was pointed out that a world championship is surely worth more than a tennis match

“We’ve still had a good season, and I’ve done a pretty good job. But I would say I want to do a better job next year,” he added

Sunday will also be Hamilton’s second and final chance to snatch the record of being F1’s youngest ever champion from Fernando Alonso

“It doesn’t make any difference,” said Hamilton of the possibility

“Whether you are the youngest or oldest, no difference.”n
