Nick Heidfeld insists he is again ‘one hundred per cent fit’ after his frightening accident at the start of the Indy race.
BMW-Sauber’s German racer sat out Jerez testing last week with a twinge in his neck, but told ‘Sport Bild’ at Magny Cours that it will not bother him in France.
”Mentally it was not a problem at all,” 29-year-old Heidfeld, whose car rolled four or five times, explained. ”In fact, I hoped at the time that the race would be restarted.”
He said ‘everything is fine’ despite the muscle twinge last week.
Heidfeld also confirmed to reporters on Thursday that BMW-Sauber altered the car’s controversial rear wing following a request of the governing body, the FIA.
Asked whether the change could be a backwards step for the car’s impressive pace, he commented: ”I don’t think so, but I hope not.”
