Nick Heidfeld will sit out his scheduled test duties at Jerez this week after feeling a ‘muscle twinge’ in his neck.
The German rolled his BMW-Sauber up to five times at the recent Indianapolis race but reportedly only noticed the twinge in the hours leading into the pre-Magny Cours test session.
Teammate Jacques Villeneuve will take over, after six other formula one teams also got their testing schedules into gear at the sunny Spanish track.
Test driver Robert Kubica, meanwhile, had heads turning when he exited the BMW-Sauber garage with radical appendages attached to the bulkhead of his car.
According to reports, the two high fins – which passingly resemble aerodynamic fixtures that were banned by the FIA in 1998 and again in 2001 – may or may not make their debut at Magny Cours.
