Honda to name new tester next week

The identity of a new test driver for the Brackley based team next year will be revealed probably in the next seven days, according to Honda principal Nick Fry.

With long time incumbent Anthony Davidson almost certain to join Super Aguri as a racer in 2007, Fry admitted to Speed TV that Christian Klien and Gary Paffett head the list to replace the Briton.

Dutch reports, meanwhile, insist that Robert Doornbos is also in the frame, although the 25-year-old is more likely for a role within the Red Bull family.

Austrian Klien, 23, visited Honda’s Brackley factory last week.

Fry said: “We are currently talking to both (Klien and Paffett), and we’ll make a decision in the next week I would imagine.”
