Honda look set to race beyond the 2006 season with the same driver lineup, team officials suggested on Tuesday.
The Japanese carmaker’s president of racing development, Yasuhiro Wada, tipped Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello to stay in the white and red cars next year.
”We don’t plan any changes,” he said.
Team principal Nick Fry was also sending out messages at the press call with reporters in Tokyo, insisting that the current pairing has worked ‘extremely well’ in 2006.
But Wada-san had to confess that the results in 2006 have fallen below expectations, with Button’s breakthrough win in Hungary only heightening the pressure.
The Japanese said: ”We should be looking to win races and hopefully we can start at Suzuka this week.”
