Toyota’s Jarno Trulli called off a PR stopover in Japan on Monday because he is ill.

Reuters suggested that the Italian, suffering from a high fever, might not be fully fit for the Australian GP and is currently still in Europe after doctors advised him to travel directly from Europe rather than making the stop.

Team principal Tsutomu Tomita, however, said: “I think he should be alright.

“We’re not too worried. It’s hardly life-threatening.”

Cologne based Toyota also released its official Australian grand prix preview on Monday, bearing Trulli’s name. Franck Montagny is the team’s reserve.
