Imola upgrade well under way

Demolition and re-construction works at axed F1 venue Imola are well under way.

The traditional San Marino GP was dropped from the 2007 calendar but hopes to bounce back in the near future with state of the art facilities.

At a cost of a reported $12 million, the revamp will eliminate the ‘Variante Bassa’ chicane but install a new paddock and pit complex.

The old start-finish line is currently buried under a pile of rubble, after the old pit buildings were destroyed and foundations laid for new ones.
