After sitting out the Barcelona test with cracked ribs, Honda racer Jenson Button will also miss the Jerez session this week, according to reports.
Numerous sources revealed that the 27-year-old Briton is not yet recovered from injuries sustained recently in a karting shunt.
It is suggested that Button could also miss the other pre-Christmas test at Jerez, located in the south of Spain, in order to guarantee his fitness for the crucial January runs with Honda’s new RA107 car.
Doctors will reassess his injury at the end of the week.
A team spokeswoman said late on Monday: “We decided we shouldn’t rush him back into the car and risk aggravating the condition.”
With Button out of action, test duties at Jerez will again likely be fulfilled by his teammate Rubens Barrichello, alongside 2007 test lineup Christian Klien and James Rossiter.
