Kimi denies Schu-factor in ’07 decision

Kimi Raikkonen says he is not bothered about what Michael Schumacher decides to do beyond 2006.

Ex-triple world champion Niki Lauda commented this week that the Finn, who presently drives for McLaren, is almost certainly already signed up for his Ferrari switch next year.

But he thinks that Schumacher, Ferrari’s number one incumbent who has delayed his final decision until later this season, genuinely has not yet decided.

Lauda’s words have led to some observers wondering how content Raikkonen is with the uncertainty about the identity – and status – of his red-clad teammate.

Kimi said: ”I’ve said it before, it doesn’t matter who my teammate is.

”It’s not going to make me change my decision, wherever I go.

”My decision is my own, it’s not about Michael.”

In another slice of insight, meanwhile, Schumacher hinted to ‘f1.com’ this week that he does not intend to quit.

The German was quoted as saying: ”I still enjoy (racing) so much there is no reason for me to think about a life outside the cockpit.”
